11.07.09

Xmas is an amazing moment for kids; they have heard the sensational stories of Mr Claus and Rudolph and the special day of the 25th. In the build up, children are on toy websites and in shopping catalogues searching high and low for the latest toy for them to have at the top of their shopping list. At their school and pre school the very hottest conversation is what action figure they will be asking Mr and Mrs Claus and if he can give them more games than their neighbours.

Every Xmas time the toy market researchers and toy websites start making their guesses about what board game will drive forward as the number one biggest seller for that Christmas time. In recent years the United Kingdom have observed the Playstation 3 and the Transformers coming in at the top.

One of the predicted highest selling toys is from the excellent Ben 10 toy range. Ben 10 is an animated series from America and is about a young kid called Ben who sees a magical alien watch item that holds itself onto Ben’s wrist and delivers him with terrific alien powers. With his alien powers, Ben helps others when they are in danger as well as create some fun mischief with Ben’s lovely cousin Gwen. With the terrific success of the cartoon series, a colourful range of awesome children’s action figures have been made, these include action figures and skateboards.

Another famous seller this Xmas time will be board games, one of the most beloved being Monopoly. Loosely based on the economic concept of a firm owning everything in their market, Monopoly is a marvellous adult and children’s board game that is fantastically popular that over 750 million users have played the family friendly board game. In its terrific 100 year lifespan, the family board game has seen it move into an online website game, games console format and even an iPhone game.

While biggest selling predictions are vital to the market the real unit sales will tell us what game was the biggest seller this Christmas.
