In the past, purchasing a folding treadmill meant compromise. You were going to compromise on stability for the convenience of a space saving exercise machine. In addition, the overall durability and quality of components would be less then you would find in a stationary treadmill.

In the last several years there’s been considerable design improvements that have contribute to folding models being comparable to their stationary equivalent. In fact, the treadmill company I worked for used the exact same frame for both their folding and stationary models. I could not tell the difference between the two.

There is no question that treadmills are space hogs. An average treadmill with a 20″ wide belt can be 3.5″ x 6″. If you are living space challenged, and you prefer not to sacrifice a good portion of a room to exercise equipment, then a folding treadmill makes sense. In addition to the fact that many folding treadmills are easy to move, and can be stored.

So what should you consider when buying a folding treadmill?

With any treadmill, you want a solid and stable feel. You’ll find that many folding models under $1,000 will lack stability. They just are not structurally built well. You probably want to test the treadmill in person. Try both walking and jogging. Jump up and down. The ideal treadmill will absorb your impact without being sloppy.

What should you pay for a good folding treadmill? If you plan to have the machine around for a reasonable amount of time, and intend to use it on a regular basis, then you are going to need to shell out a few bucks. I generally recommend that you pay around $1,000 for a machine primarily for walking, and start at $1,500 for a treadmill that will be used for jogging or running.

How easy is it to fold the treadmill? Most folding treadmills are equipped with hydraulics, making it a breeze to fold up or down. There are some that require power lifting. Regardless, remember to always lift with your legs, and not with your back bent over.

Will you be moving the folding treadmill? Almost all folding treadmills are designed to move, the difference is the effort required. If you plan to constantly move the treadmill, check out how easy it is. If it is a 200 lbs. treadmill that requires tilting it on two wheels in order to move it, you are going to need some strength training in addition to a cardio workout. There are some models that when folded, have four recessed wheels that pop out, making it simple to move.

Check out the weight capacity. You can assume that all manufacturers are going to exaggerate the weight capacity of their treadmill. It is a standard practice. Whatever the capacity states, minus at least 50 lbs. You want a machine that can withstand the impact of your weight. Otherwise you’ll find the motor, belt, rollers and bearings will burn-out prematurely.

The warranty is always a good indication of the quality of the treadmill, whether it’s folding or stationary. Be leery of models that have 90 day warranties. That suggests built-in obsolesce. I recommend a folding treadmill that has a minimum 1 year service, 2 year parts and 5 year motor warranty.

There are a number of good brands that build folding treadmills. Two that stand out are Sole and Smooth. Sole folding treadmills are used in the Hilton hotel chains for in-room service. If they can hold-up under that type of environment, they should do well in your home. Smooth has a good reputation for quality machines and customer service. Both Sole and Smooth have received “Best Buy” awards from Treadmill Doctor.

When purchasing any timepiece, inquire about product warranties
and guarantees. If your watch has a warranty card or

your warranty is properly activated. If you need to return a
warranty card, do so as quickly as possible. If the warranty
information is simply tucked inside the box, always be sure to
keep it in a safe place. It is a good idea to retain all
warranty information, along with your original purchase receipt.
This will aid in proper handling of future warranty issues, such
as repair or replacements should they arise in the future.

There are several levels of security to SQL Server. At the a
base level, in order to be granted get access to a SQL Server, a
user is required to have a login account.

There are two modes of security to SQL Server, distinguished by
which program provides the authentication. NT Authentication
provides that Windows NT (and/or its successors) verify verifies
the identity of a user logging in. In this mode, the SQL Server
will ‘trust’ that Windows NT has verified that the user is who
he says he is. The second method, SQL Server authentication, it
is SQL: Server that authenticates the identity of the user. SQL
Server authentication is typically used for internet Internet
connections, since not all internet Internet users have Windows
NT, and not all NT domains are trusted.

In addition to identifying users, it is sometimes convenient to
define roles at the server level. Since within an organization,
there are groups of users with similar access needs and levels,
it may be convenient to define roles with specific levels of
permissions. Once you have defined a role, you can assign users
to that role, and those users inherit all of the privileges
assigned to the role.

There are two types of permissions assigned to individual users
and roles. Statement permissions confer the right to execute
certain types of T-SQL commands. Object permissions confer the
right to access database objects directly.

Defining Logins Users, and Roles Logins can be added either
through the Database Properties Window (under Logins), or by
invoking system stored procedures with appropriate parameters.
The command

sp_addlogin loginname, password, databasename

will add a SQL Server authenticated login to the list;

sp_grantlogin ‘domainname/username’

will add an NT authenticated login to the list.

After the login has been allowed, you need to allow the user
access to the database. This is done either through the Database
Properties Window (under Users for that particular database) or
with the command

sp_grantdbaccess loginname.

You can see the list of users using the command sp_helpuser or
sp_helpuser username

To cancel a security account for a given database, use
sp_revokedbaccess username

To remove an NT Login use sp_revokelogin ‘username’ (note no
domain), and to srop stop a SQL Server authenticated login, use
sp_droplogin username .

To add a role to a database, use sp_addrole ‘clerical’, and to
add meAugust 16, 2005er ‘clerical’, ‘username’. To delete a
rolemember use sp_droprolemember username.

At the SQL Server level the rolenames are fixed, and cannot be
changed, but users can be added using sp_addsrvrolemember
username, dbcreator . To drop a rolmember, use sp_dropsrvmember
username .

Granting permissions The GRANT command is used to assign
permissions to a security account. Statement permissions in this
way: GRANT right TO username

where right can be any of the following:

CREATE DATABASE CREATE DEFAULT CREATE PROCEDURE CREATE RULE
CREATE TABLE CREATE VIEW DUMP DATABASE DUMP TRANSACTION

For object permissions, GRANT is also the command to use, but
the grammar differs slightly:

GRANT action ON table/view/procedure name TO username

where action can be one of the following:

INSERT, DELETE, EXECUTE, SELECT or UPDATE

One can also apply these this permission to groups or roles as
well as usernames. And it is also possible that a role can have
a permission, but a member of that role be denied permission for
a task. See the next discussion.

In all of the above commands, you can also explicitly deny
permission using DENY in place of GRANT. Note however that DENY
is not the negation of GRANT . DENY explicitly excludes the user
from that capability. The REVOKE command is used to remove both
the permission and refusal.

Hair transplantation - “hair transplant” — is a surgical procedure that involves moving sections of scalp where hair still grows to a part of the scalp that is bald or where the hair is thinning.

History of hair transplantation

Hair restoration started in 1930, when Japanese doctors experimented to see if skin and hair could be transplanted from healthy parts of the body to parts that had been disfigured by injury.

In 1950, dermatologist Norman Orentreich wrote an article explaining how hair transplantation could be done. Although his studies were not embraced by the scientific community, he became even more determined to prove his theory “donor dominance,” which states that even when hair is relocated to a bald area it will continue to grow as it did before. He is considered the father of hair transplants.

Hair transplantation is the most common elective surgery among men. The reason for its popularity among men is the fact that results gained from this procedure are much better compared to other similar hair replacement procedures. The hair transplantation of today is not really different from the hair transplantation Dr. Orentreich performed — however, today’s hair transplantation involves graft or plug size.

The older method of hair transplantation is easily identified by its patchy appearance. This used to be the norm, until transplant surgeons critically examined the possibilities of using a different graft size. It was determined that better results would be gleaned from using grafts that were smaller.

What happens during a hair transplant?

As mentioned earlier, hair transplantation involves moving small pieces of scalp where hair still grows to a part of the scalp that is bald or where the hair is thinning.

There are five types of grafts, varying in size and shape. These are: punch grafts, mini-grafts, micro-grafts, slit grafts and strip grafts. Since this new method of hair transplantation makes use of smaller sizes of grafts, many surgical procedures are needed to fully covered a bald area, taking as long as two years. The number of large plugs transplanted during the first sessions of surgery varies with each individual, but the average is usually about 50. With mini-graphs or micro-graphs there may be up tp 700 plugs transplanted per session.

The art of presenting well is a learned skill, but even if you are a complete beginner, you can get a head start by not falling for these common pitfalls:

1. Never, ever, imagine that you can get away with not preparing and that when you stand up in front of your audience, you will be inspired to speak fluently and intelligently! It just does not happen and there is no quicker way to destroy your credibility and reputation. Remember the old saying - fail to prepare and you prepare to fail!

2. Don’t feel you need to include lots and lots of information - you will lose your audience. Practise the presentation with a carefully-chosen audience (who you can trust to be helpful and objective) and you will be surprised how long it can take to cover a few points when they are involved and contributing.

3. Don’t read from your notes. You may need prompts, but you should be well enough prepared to speak spontaneously about your content.

4. Don’t get too technical in an effort to prove how much of an expert you are. Unless all the audience are at least as well-versed in jargon as you are, you will simply alienate them.

5. Don’t be afraid to use humour. A little lightness softens up your audience and makes them more receptive. On the other hand, attempting jokes which fall flat will work against you. Know your limits.

6. Never give out handouts while you are talking, as people will instinctively start reading them and you will lose their attention. Remember to allow sufficient time afterwards for the distribution of handouts.

These points are intended as a general guide. As you become more practised at giving presentations, you will no doubt begin to learn some rules of your own about what does and does not work for you, and that is when you will become really proficient.
